Mexican workers' party delegation visits

Pham The Duyet, member of the Standing Board of the Party Central
Committee's Politburo, received a delegation of the Mexican Workers' Party
led by General Secretary Alberto Analla Gutierez in Hanoi on November 4.

Mr Duyet acclaimed the achievements recorded by the Mexican Workers' Party
over the past years, particularly the Party's victory in the mid-2000
election. He said he believed that the friendship and co-operation between
the two Parties and people of Vietnam and Mexico would be further
strengthened in the interests of the people in each country, and for peace,
stability and development in the region and the world.

General Secretary Gutierez spoke highly of the achievements obtained by the
Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam
(CPV) in the struggle for national liberation and reunification and in the
renovation process in recent years.

He expressed his belief that the upcoming Ninth Party Congress will be a
success, the Vietnamese people will make up an example for the successful
implementation of national industrialisation and modernisation under a
socialist regime.

On the same day, the Mexican Workers' Party delegation and a CPV delegation
led by head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External
Relations Nguyen Van Son, CPV CC member, held talks. The two sides informed
each others of situations of their respect Parties and countries, and
compared notes on international and regional issues of common concern. They
discussed measures to boost the friendship and co-operation between the two
Parties, thus contributing to the friendly and co-operative ties between
the two peoples in the coming time.

While in Vietnam, the Mexican Workers' Party delegation visited the office
and residence of President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi, had session with leaders
of the Ho Chi Minh Politics Institute on experiences in training cadres,
and toured economic and cultural establishments in Hanoi and the
northeastern province of Quang Ninh. (VNA)

Talks on Vietnam - Cambodia border continue

The third round of negotiations on the border issue between Vietnam and
Cambodia ended in Hanoi today, November 5, after eight days' sitting.

The Vietnamese delegation to the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Border
Affairs was led by Tran Cong Truc, Head of the Government Border Committee,
and the Cambodian delegation, by Var Kim Hong, advisor to the Royal
Government on Border Affairs.

The two parties reached important consensus on most of the issues raised
for discussion.

They signed minutes of the third round today, acknowledging the two
delegations' efforts over the past two years in properly implementing the
agreement reached by the leadership of both countries.

Leaders of the two countries agreed to have the two countries' border issue
solved within this year with a view to building a borderline of peace,
friendship, co-operation and long-lasting stability, thus facilitating
development of the neighbourly traditional relationship between the two
nations for the interest of the Vietnamese and Cambodian peoples. (VNA)
