>*LAS TUNAS PROVINCE CALLS FOR OVERTURNING US ANTI-CUBAN LEGISLATION
>
>Havana, November 11th (RHC)-- The municipality of Colombia, located in the
>Cuban eastern province of Las Tunas, was, on Saturday, the location of an
>open tribune, where about 20 thousand Cubans from this, and other Cuban
>municipalities and provinces, demanded the repeal of all U.S anti-Cuba
>legislation, including the Cuban Adjustment Act and the Helms Burton Law.
>They also called for an end of the U.S economic blockade imposed against
>Cuba more than 40 years ago.
>
>
>*UNIVERSITY FOR ALL LANGUAGE CLASSES TO EXTEND HOURS FOR TEACHERS
>
>Havana, November 11th (RHC)--As part of their traditional winter week off,
>Cuban primary school teachers will have the opportunity to participate in
>the " University for All" television educational program which is currently
>broadcasting Spanish and English language classes.
>
>During the primary school vacations which run from the 13th to 18th of
>November, the "University for All" will expand its broadcasting hours, and
>will re-air the seminar after its regularly televised live classes. In that
>way, more than 200,000 educators will have the opportunity to attend classes
>without having to leave home. The seminar, which has been prepared
>especially for teachers, educators, pedagogy assistants, librarians, and
>speech therapists, will also be of interest to Cuban families.
>
>This new course is part of efforts by the Cuban government to increase the
>level of education and culture on a grassroots level. Hundreds of thousands
>of Cubans have already completed two-week televised courses in literature
>and in writing, given by well-known professors and authors. The current
>English and Spanish classes are filmed live from 7:00 am to 8:00 am, Monday
>through Friday and are repeated from 11:00 pm to midnight.

>*NATURE TOURISM PROJECT PROMOTED AT MEETING IN VINALES VALLEY
>
>Havana, November 11th (RHC)-- Cuba can count on 50 available areas to
>promote nature tourism. These locations daily receive more than seven
>thousand tourists, without causing any damage to the enviroment. The project
>was announced during the closure of Turnat 2000, a meeting that took place
>at the Vinales Valley, located in the Cuban western province of Pinar del
>Rio. Some 140 delegates participated, including 40 foreign specialists in
>tourism.
>
>During the meeting specialists promoted eco-tourism as an option that
>complements the main attraction of the island, which are the sun and the
>beach. The Flora and Fauna Business Group presented this option as the first
>tourist venture of its kind in the Caribbean.

>*Viewpoint: US STANDS ALONE IN ITS AGGRESSIVE ANTI-CUBA POLICY
>
>The United States continues to apply an aggressively anti-Cuba policy aimed
>at undermining the Caribbean nation's government. For nearly 40 years,
>Washington has waged an economic, commercial and financial war against Cuba,
>which, though it has caused great harm to the Cuban people, has been unable
>to derail the Cuban Revolution. Nine successive U.S. governments have
>attempted to internationalize their anti-Cuba policy, pressuring other
>countries to adopt the same hostile stance.
>
>Over the past nine years of economic and diplomatic attacks on Cuba, the
>United States stands virtually alone in its hostility, which has been
>demonstrated by increasingly large votes against Washington's policy in the
>United Nations General Assembly. A resolution presented by the Cuban
>government on the necessity of ending the economic blockade against the
>island, has been passed since l992 by a significantly growing number of
>votes.
>
>This year, 167 countries voted in favor of Cuba's resolution, three voted
>against and four abstained. None of Washington's traditional allies
>abstained or voted against the resolution save Israel which was joined this
>year by the Marshall Islands. The two votes are understandable considering
>the strategic role Israel plays for the United States in the oil producing
>Arab world. Tel Aviv could not exist without the United States and so cannot
>bite the hand that feeds it. The Israeli people are not responsible for the
>situation - something which Cuba understands.
>
>Regarding the Marshall Islands, it is a small archipelago in the Pacific,
>made up of 32 islands with less than a hundred thousand inhabitants. The
>tiny U.S. protectorate, which has served as a nuclear testing ground, is
>unable to disobey Washington's instructions to vote against Cuba. The Cuban
>people don't hold the people of the Marshall Islands responsible for that
>country's vote either, which they understand to be a ludicrous maneuver by
>Washington to avoid standing almost completely alone in the United Nations'
>vote.
>
>This is the situation in which the world's most powerful nation finds itself
>after allowing its foreign policy to be manipulated by right-wing extremists
>in Florida.
