Vietnam values France's role in Europe: Deputy PM

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam said that Vietnam always attached
importance to France's role in Europe and the world, especially its support
and assistance to Vietnam in enhancing the relations between Vietnam and the
European Union.

The deputy prime minister said this while receiving the visiting delegation
of the French Enterprises' Movement (MEDEF), led by president of the Mining
and Chemicals Enterprise, Pierre Francois Couture, and head of MEDEF's
Vietnam Committee, in Hanoi on June 8.

He described the Vietnam visit by MEDEF delegation as a manifestation of
France's good will toward Vietnam.

He said that France has always taken the lead among other European countries
in investment and trade with Vietnam, with an investment capital of almost
US $1.8 billion and two-way trade turnover of US $1 billion. However, these
figures have not matched the two countries' potential, he said, adding that
he hoped the close relationship would continue to develop.

Mr Couture said that the aim of their visit was to better understand
Vietnam's socio-economic development policies and investigate opportunities
of business co-operation, particularly in investment and trade,

The French delegation included 15 major French enterprises employers. (VNA)
