Israeli forces were forced to leave Jenin,
confrontations continued

Amid more Israeli escalation, the Israeli forces broke
into the city of Jenin amid people's resistance which
resulted in an important victory embodied in deterring
the invading Israeli forces. The Arab Intifada
Teenagers clashes with the Israeli soldiers in several
areas in Gaza and the West Bank.

Detailed news reports said that Israeli tanks and
bulldozers on Tuesday morning broke into the city of
Jenin and destroyed a headquarter for the Palestinian
police with the support of the Israeli helicopters
which rocketed a second quarters for the Palestinian
police and also inflected large damages in the
neighboring villages.

The Palestinians hurried to defend their city, using
available weapons and also backed by members of the
Palestinian police. This forced the Israeli invading
forces to withdraw and the clashes resulted in
wounding several citizens, four of them are from the
Palestinian police.

Col. Abu al-Fateh and other Palestinian officials said
that the citizens, through loudspeakers called upon
all to fight in defnse of their city, stressing that
this is the first time the Israeli invading forces
broke into the heart of a city falls under the
Palestinian self- rule since the beginning of the
Palestinian
Intifada in September 2000.

In a statement, the Palestinian Authority called for
convening an urgent meeting for the UN Security
Council and stressed that the government of Sharon has
gotten completely apart from the peace process.

For its part, the Palestinian resistance movement "
Hamas" announced that the pullout of the of the
Israeli forces from Jenin is but a new chain in the
series of the Israeli defeats. It said in a statement
that the incursion of the Israeli forces into
Palestinian areas will cost it a lot and that it (
Hamas) will carry out more "suicide" operations adding
that the Jerusalem operation on Thursday was the
beginning to force Israel to evacuate.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces bombarded
Bethlehem and Beit Jala cities and al-Ezza and Aida
camps for the Palestinians and al-Khuder town and also
confiscated houses in Beit Jala and converted them to
military barracks after it expelled their citizens.
The Israeli forces also confiscated the house of Dr.
Samih Hassan in Jerusalem and converted it into a
military check point and strong confrontation took
part between the Arab citizens and the Israeli forces
in Bethlehem, Toulkarem, Qalqilya and Jerusalem and
also Hebron. Several Israeli soldiers and the armed
Israeli settlers were wounded near Jeilo settlement,
near Jerusalem.

The Palestinian citizen Naser Abu Zeyadah from
Qilindya was killed when he was exposed to the Israeli
fire in Jerusalem. Also the Palestinian teenager Shadi
Asfouri who was an activist in the Intifada was killed
in an explosion near Nablus while the Palestinian
policeman Hammad Breish was seriously wounded in
Ramullah. The Israeli forces carried out a detention
campaign in
Bethlehem and Qalqilya.
