Unity Centre backs Maoist demands

KOL Report

KATHMANDU, Sept 2 - Unity Centre, one of the radical communist parties of
Nepal, Saturday issued a statement stating that the party supported the
demands put forward by the Maoists and that it would start mobilising
people in this regard.

The statement also adds that it has taken the Maoists as a like minded
party and make appeals to other lefts that they include the party in the
ongoing meet as any left front is incomplete without the Maoists.

Ending all the speculations as to why the party was absent from the UML
called meeting of all the left parties on Friday, the statement further
adds that if the ongoing talks between the government and the Maoists fail
then the government will be responsible for civil war which is bound to
take place.

The statement, undersigned by Unity Centre General Secretary Prakash, adds
that the party does not agree with the land reforms policy introduced by
the government and will pressurise on making it more revolutionary. We
hope that our ongoing dialogue with CPN-Masal will be successful and that
the two parties will agree on a working unity, the statement adds. (yo)
