Twenty Palestinians Killed in Israel's Latest Onslaught
September 16, 2001

In the aftermath of the terror attacks against the United States of America
and the Israeli campaign of incitement against the Palestinian people,
Israeli occupation forces beefed up military might around Palestinian towns
and villages. On Saturday, Israeli troops shelled several police outposts in
Gaza using tanks, artillery and Apache attack helicopters. The onslaught
resulted in severe damage to the targeted buildings. Israeli Apache
helicopters fired two missiles on a Palestinian police post in Rafah. The
first missile hit and severely damaged the police post and the second one
hit a warehouse and set it on fire. Four Palestinians were injured in the
attack:

1. Ala Abu Jazer, 11, bruised after falling as she was heading home from
school during the attack
2. Tayseer Afana, 43, shrapnel wounds in the face and abdomen
3. Yusif Al Akhras, 25, shrapnel wounds to the right foot
4. Imad Naser, 37, shrapnel wounds to the left ear

Another police post was shelled in Al Nuseirat refugee camp. Passerby
21-year-old Salama Nwiri sustained shrapnel wounds in the abdomen.

Furthermore, Israeli attack helicopters shelled a Palestinian police post in
Al Zaytun, east of Gaza wounding Mustafa Abu Auda, 21, sustained shrapnel
wounds in different parts of the body and lost his left hand fingers. He is
in critical condition.

On Saturday evening, Israeli troops shelled Beit Sahour and killed Yihya
Sabayha, 21, a paramedic from Gaza. A colleague, 23-year-old Amjad Kanan,
told LAW that Israeli troops opened fire on their ambulance as they were
heading to rescue the wounded. However, when the paramedics started rescuing
the wounded, Israeli soldiers intensified the shooting. The following
paramedics were also wounded:

1. Mohammad Ayish, 24, shrapnel wounds
2. Mutaz Isa, 24, shrapnel wounds

Three ambulances were destroyed in the vicious Israeli attack. Additionally,
two homes and a restaurant "The Shepherd's Tent" were severely damaged. They
belonged to:

1. George Tawila
2. Isa Rishmawi

Israeli tanks and armored carriers made an incursion into Palestinian-ruled
areas in Um Al Sharayit in Ramallah early Sunday morning. Israeli occupation
forces opened machinegun fire and artillery shells on the homes of
Palestinian civilians, killing 26-year-old Ali Yasin. Sources reported that
Ramallah hospital admitted 31 casualties due to the attack. Moreover,
Israeli forces used Apache helicopters to launch an onslaught on a Fatah
building causing severe damage. According to LAW's documentation, so far,
twenty Palestinians have been killed since the start of the escalation war
Israel launched against Palestinian civilians on Tuesday, September 11,
2001. Following are the names of the victims of the Israeli onslaught:

1. Iyad Al Masri, 20, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Jenin
2. Ibraheem Al Fayid, 25, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Jenin
3. Muhanad Abu Al Hija, 25, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into
Jenin
4. Wael Asaf, 20, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Jenin
5. Asad Daka, 25, killed in Tulkarem when Israeli forces fired a missile on
him
6. Sufyan Al Arda, 28, killed in Araba
7. Thaer Mihdawi, 28, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Tamoun
8. Tawfeek Jaber 42, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Tamoun
9. Shaher Bani Auda, 28, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Tamoun
10. Amer Ziyada, 23, was killed when Israeli troops opened fire on his car
11. Khatab Jabaren, 33, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Jenin
12. Raja Frihat, 24, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Jenin
13. Fakhri Frihat, 32, was killed in Israeli forces' incursion into Jenin
14. Rafat Al Malhi, 25, was killed when Israeli troops shot and killed him
while he was driving to work
15. Ramzi Hasuna, 17, shot and killed when Israeli troops opened fire on
Palestinian demonstrators in Gaza
16. Mohammad Al Dajani, 18, was killed in the Israeli shelling of Khan Yunis
17. Imad Khalaf, 19, was killed in the Israeli shelling of Khan Yunis
18. Imad Zarab, 14, was killed in the Israeli shelling of Khan Yunis
19. Yihya Sabayha
20. Ali Yasin

LAW strongly condemns Israeli state terrorism and its incitement campaign
against the Palestinian people. LAW warns against Israel's use of the terror
attacks in the United States to carry out more killings and destruction
against Palestinians.

LAW calls on the international community to immediately intervene and stop
the Israeli aggression and urge Israel to respect the 4th Geneva Convention
of 1949 in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
