9-11 Attacks: Inconsistencies, Possible Foreknowledge
Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit

source - [EMAIL PROTECTED] 14th Sept.

Dear All,

Those of you who received a copy of my general letter to news editors
will recall my utter condemnation of the attacks on New York. However,
I am watching with a very great sense of unease the growth of the
'patriotic' calls for revenge of the American public. Use of nuclear
weapons has been broached. If ever there was a time to keep a cool head
and place the attack in perspective, it is now.

I urge all of you to circulate the information in this message as
widely as possible, as few in the mainstream are asking the question:
Why?
I have broken it down into sections for ease of reference. All sources,
where available, are listed. You are highly encouraged to check them
and others for yourself.

THE ATTACK - INCONSISTENCIES AND POSSIBLE FOREKNOWLEDGE
COUNTERPUNCH reports the following:

- San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown was booked to fly from the Bay Area
to New York City on the morning of September 11. But Brown says that
late Monday evening, a full 8 hours prior to the attack, he received a
call from a person Brown described as his "airport security man"
telling him that he should be extra cautious about air travel on
September 11.

- An internal memo was sent around Goldman Sachs in Tokyo on September
10 advising all employees of a possible terrorist attack. It
recommended all employees to avoid any American government buildings

- Even after two planes had struck the World Trade Center towers and
another had smashed into the Pentagon, Congressional officials were not
warned by the CIA or any other intelligence arm of the federal
government that the 30,000 workers in the Capitol might be at risk of
an attack.

(Recall: Neither Congress nor the UN were informed by the US
administration that the air strikes on Iraq in December 1998 had begun)

Channel 9 Eyewitness News in Florida reports:
Suspicious Plane, Men Bragged Of Attack

The FBI is also investigating a suspicious airplane in Daytona Beach
with a threatening message on it and three men who might have known
about the attacks before they happened.

A local bar owner says three men were at the Pink Pony [bar] Monday
night bragging about the attacks.Federal agents searched a plane at the
Daytona Beach International Airport. There was a scrawled message on the
wheel well of a Continental plane was discovered by an airport worker.
Officials would only say the message addressed President Bush. Federal
agents are concerned because the plane originated in Newark, New Jersey
on Tuesday. One of the four planes hijacked by terrorists on Tuesday was
also out of Newark. A spokesman said the FBI told them not to discuss
it.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

The use of covert US agencies to commit acts of terrorism on the
American people to justify military actions was discussed by the
National Security Agency in 1962, and was code-named 'Operation
Northwoods'. It "....may be the most corrupt plan ever created by the
U.S. government," writes author and investigative reporter James
Bamford in his new book, a follow up to his book on the NSA 'The Puzzle
Palace'.

U.S. military leaders proposed a secret plan to commit terrorist acts
against Americans and blame Cuba to create a pretext for invasion and
the ouster of Communist leader Fidel Castro, according to a new book
about the National Security Agency.

"We could develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area,
in other Florida cities and even in Washington," said one document
reportedly prepared by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "We could blow up a
U.S. ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba," the document says.
"Casualty lists in U.S. newspapers would cause a helpful wave of
indignation."

The 'Northwoods' plan also proposed that if the 1962 launch of John
Glenn into orbit were to fail, resulting in the astronaut's death, the
U.S. government would publicize fabricated evidence that Cuba had used
electronic interference to sabotage the flight, the book says.

(If these documents are real then the US government is clearly
prepared to sacrifice innocent people)

JUSTICE FOR WHO[M]?

-The US government fully supports the campaign to indict terrorists and
war criminals such as Slobodan Milosevic, but refuses to recognise the
legitimacy of the proposed International Criminal Court UNLESS ALL US
CITIZENS ARE EXEMPT FROM ITS' POWERS. This court would enable people
such as Bin laden to be handed over by any country and be held
accountable. Similarly it would hold former US Secretary of State Henry
Kissinger accountable, as it has now been conclusively proven that he
was directly involved in the overthrow of the Chilean government in
1973 following which thousands were murdered.

HITCHENS THE FATE OF AFGHANISTAN Not widely reported is the impending
calamity that Afghanistan currently faces. Not only from US attacks, but
from massive famine. As UN and other aid agencies are pulled out of the
country, the people there face death on a truly monumental scale. An
estimated 5.5 million people will be totally dependent on food aid this
coming winter as a result of a three year drought, and the ravaging of
their country by the repressive Taliban regime. Poverty is already so
severe that hundreds of thousands can not afford to travel to refugee
and food distribution centres, and thus face certain starvation. The
majority of people in the country do not have access to television,
radio, newspapers or computers. There isn't even a formal postal
service. Most will not have even heard of the recent attacks. Many will
not have even heard of a place called 'The World Trade Centre'. Source:

WHO IS OSAMA BIN LADEN?

Osama Bin Laden was trained by the CIA in guerilla warfare techniques
during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan (almost certainly at the
'School of the Americas' where the CIA trained death squads operating
in El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Chile, amongst others.)

WHY AMERICA?

Here is the crux of it. What follows are excerpts from an essay by Bill
Thompson entitled COMBATING TERRORISM. The full document can be found
at my web site: www.wakefieldcam.freeserve.co.uk

1. We Americans, comprising some 4% of the world's population, consume
approximately 40% of its resources. We appear to assume that the
resources found in other parts of the world are somehow our birthright.
Imagine how this is experienced in third world countries, many of whom
have been the recipient of United States military attacks.

2. We maintain this consumption, in large part, because we have the
most powerful military in the world, and since WW II we have not
hesitated to use it for political and/or economic gain in places like:

China (1945-46)
Korea (1950-53)
China (1950-53)
Guatemala (1954)
Indonesia (1958)
Cuba (1959-60)
Guatemala (1960)
Congo (1964)
Peru (1965)
Laos (1964-73),
Vietnam (1961-73)
Cambodia (1969-70)
Guatemala (1967-69)
Grenada (1983),
Libya (1986)
El Salvador (1980s)
Nicaragua (1980s)
Panama (1989)
Iraq
(1991-present)
Sudan (1998)
Afghanistan (1998)
and
Yugoslavia (1999).

We have bombed each of these countries in turn, and in NO case did a
democratic government, respectful of human rights, occur as a direct
result. Through our weapons and/or proxies, innocent civilians of
Indonesia, East Timor, Chile, Nicaragua and Palestine have also been
victims of the United States. Is it any wonder that the level
of hatred of the United States is so high?

Former President Jimmy Carter stated:

"We have only to go to Lebanon, to Syria, to Jordan, to witness
firsthand the intense hatred among many people for the United States,
because we bombed and shelled and unmercifully killed totally innocent
villagers, women and children and farmers and housewives, in those
villages around Beirut...as a result, we have become a kind of Satan in
the minds of those who are deeply resentful. That is what precipitated
the taking of hostages and that is what has precipitated some terrorist
attacks."

AMERICAN DEMOCRACY AND CIVILISED VALUES?

As Thompson's list demonstrates, the US cares not a jot for democracy
and civilised values when it comes to other peoples of the world.
Aren't anybody else's innocent lives worth the same as Americans ? It
isn't just an opinion to say no, they do not.

>From the list two come to mind specifically: Cambodia and Iraq.

Cambodia was bombed in secret for 4 years by US B-52 planes, and the
flight logs falsified to cover up the crime. Over a MILLION Cambodians
were killed. When the American people found out, they took to the
streets in their thousands to protest. The American government called
out the National Guard and shot at them. That was the incident at Kent
State university. The CIA's directorate of Operations concluded that
the Khmer Rouge used these bombings as a recruitment tool:

"They are using damage caused by [US} B-52 strikes as the main theme of
their propaganda. This approach has resulted in the successful
recruitment of a number of young men. Residents [....] say that the
propaganda has been effective with refugees in areas which have been
subject to B-52 strikes." Source: CIA's Directorate of Operations, May
2nd 1973, quoted by John Pilger in 'Heroes'

Iraq was bombed into a pre-industrial age,and the US targeted the water
supply and sanitation systems,(as well as electrical infrastructure) in
order to deliberately foster epidemics of disease amongst the civilian
population. Recently declassified Defence Intelligence Agency documents
categorically state the US awareness and intention. Professor Thomas
Nagy of Georgetown University has been investigating this for over a
year, and his article in The Progressive magazine prompted
Representative Cynthia McKinney, D-GA, at a House hearing on 6/7/01 to
state:

"Attacking the Iraqi public drinking water supply flagrantly targets
civilians and is a violation of the Geneva Convention and of the
fundamental laws of civilized nations."

THE ISLAMIC SCAPEGOAT AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC

Whilst it is heartening to see politicians making the distinction
between the Islamic faith and unconnected extremists, it seems the
American public is not so discerning. The following threats were sent
via fax and e-mail to an Arab woman at a mosque in Los Angeles. She
posted them anonymously on www.nyc.indymedia.org British media
additonally has carried several reports of extreme abuse in the UK,
depite the Muslim community wholeheartedly condemning the attacks.

"Go back to the middle east before you get burned at the Stake, who the
fuck do you think you guys are coming to our communities and bringing
your dirt with you? Muslims and their hate are not wanted in LA"

"Fuck you allfor bringing your mud dirt people to our country and after
that bringing your evil uncivilized ways here to harm and hurt our
people.Watch out because we know who you are and we know where you live
and we will make sure that you pay for all those American lives lost"

" Fuck Muslims and fuck you, you will die for doing this"
" You middle eastern mud people need to die and pay for what you did."
" Fuck Allah fuck mohammad and fuck all muslims"

"All of you damn fucked up not civilized Muslims will go and burn in
hell, how could you bring your filth on our soil"

"How could you do this to a country that has welcomed you all with open
arms, I will personally make sure that this never happens again on our
land"

"You will all die a horrific deaht worse than the things you did our
people"

"Make sure you are not alone tonight, because you are all fucked"

"I don't understand how a race of dirty ignorant people like yourselves
could cometo our country where we give you all so much freedom and give
you our constitution and you people turn around and do this to us. go
back to your own country and eat shit"

"Fuck islam and fuck you too"
"You are all going to get the same fate"
"Muslim scum need to die, and die a slow and tortured death"
"Payback time, enough is enough"

"For all it's worth, I hope you all get what you have coming to you and
what you deserve"
"We are going to make sure your place of so called worship is shut down
and that you never do something like this again"

UNDERLYING AGENDAS AND THE CAPITALISATION ON HORROR

The US administration is currently riding a wave of militarism and
public anger that suits its' agendas to a tee. A vivid example of such
an agenda is revealed in the following:

David Leavey, chief spokesperson for the National Security Council,
headed by Sandy Berger, justified our actions against Austria by saying
that where a country has "...values..." different from those of the
United States, we have a right to act against them. In a meeting
sponsored by the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.,officials
said that NATO should be expanded to go beyond its original
geographical
boundaries and go beyond limited purposes of defense. He said that if,
for example, a country were to deny us access to its "...natural
resources..." that should be sufficient reason for NATO to proceed
against that country.

In the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq, there was clearly US foreknowledge
and complicity, as accidently revealed by former US Ambassador to Iraq,
April Glaspie:

"Obviously, I didn't think, and nobody else did, that the Iraqis were
going to take ALL of Kuwait." Source: New York Times, 20th September
1990, seven weeks after the invasion

THE CARING FACE OF US OFFICIALS?

Colin Powell, the only 'dove' in the Bush administration was asked at
the end of the Gulf War how many casualties he thought the US had
inflicted on Iraq. He replied:

"That's not really a figure I'm terribly interested in."

Robert Gates, US National Security Advisor, made clear who it was who
would suffer in the aftermath. Note that he did not say the Iraqi
regime....

"Iraqis will be made to pay the price while Saddam Hussein is in power.
Any easing of sanctions will be considered only when there is a new
government." Source: Los Angeles Times, 9th May 1991
Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was asked whether the
deaths of over 500,000 children in Iraq due to sanctions was a price
worth paying. Albright did not dispute the figure of 500,000 children.

She replied:
"This is a very hard choice, but the price....we think the price is
worth it."

The indirect targeting of civilians through starvation was discussed
during the Vietnam war:

"Strikes at population targets (per se) are likely not only to create a
counterproductive wave of revulsion abroad and at home, but greatly to
increase the risk of enlarging the war with China and the Soviet Union.
Destruction of locks and dams, however - if handled right - might offer
promise. It should be studied. Such destruction does not kill or drown
people. By shallow-flooding the rice, it leads after time to widespread
starvation (more than a million) unless food is provided - which we
could offer to do 'at the conference table'."
- John McNaughton, US State Department
Source: 'The Mentality of the Backroom Boys' - Article by Noam
Chomsky,
1973

In the aftermath of Vietnam, similar callousness was expressed:
"To put it in terms of a Chinese dialectic, United States policy is
exactly to squeeze Vietnam to rely on the Soviet Union: then Vietnam
will find the Soviet Union can not meet all its' needs. [....] If
Vietnam suffers economic hardships, I think that is just great."
- Roger Sullivan, US National Security Council, addressing a US
delegation who had travelled to the White House with a petition
requesting the US Government to allow humanitarian assistance to be
sent
to Vietnam

NOT JUST A PERSONAL VIEW

It is my opinion that in the weeks ahead, dedicated, rational
investigators will undoubtedly unearth more and more stories of US
complicity in the recent events, though few will appear in mainstream
media. I have listed just a few items that place the attacks in
perspective. Many more appear on my web site, and the forthcoming
official web site for my audio project www.firethistime.org which
should open later this month. In the meantime:

Ask yourself a simple question: If the US supports democracy, why then
is, and was, it allied to the following dictatorships: Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait, Turkey, Indonesia, Chile, Iraq (prior to 1990), amongst others
Ask other simple questions: Who is the biggest arms dealer in the
world?
Which is the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons? Which
country refused to sign the Convention on the Rights of the Child? Who
has the greatest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction in the world?
Who spends more on weapons than Russia and China combined mulitiplied
by a factor of seven? Who pulled out of the Kyoto climate protocol? Who
refused to attend the conference on racism? (to list but a few)

The answer: America.

The historical record clearly shows that the American government has no
concern for life, democracy or civilised values in the slightest if the
people involved are not American, and if they stand in the way of
American consumerism, as the following clearly shows:

'We have about 60% of the world's wealth but only 6.3% of its'
population. In this situation we cannot fail to be the object of envy
and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a
pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position
of disparity. We need not deceive ourselves that we can afford today the
luxury of altruism and world benefaction. We should cease to talk about
such vague and unreal objectives as human rights, the raising of living
standards and democratisation. The day is not far off when we are going
to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are then
hampered by idealistic slogans, the better."
- George Kennan, former Head of the US State Department Policy Planning
Staff, Document PPS23, 24th February 1948
Source: 'The Chomsky Reader' - Noam Chomsky, 'Hidden Agendas' - John
Pilger, and others

Successive US governments lie not only to their own people, but to their
own troops, and to the rest of the world. It is time the people, and
indeed armed forces, of America were awoken to this immutable fact. I
urge you to circulate exceprts of, or indeed all, the information above
as widely as possible. Make people ask the simplest yet rarest question
of all: WHY HAS THIS HAPPENED?

Much hangs in the balance.
Thank you,

Grant Wakefield.
