May their representatives receive a similar welcome at all future visits.] Folks-- A team from NATO visited the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) today, basically to spread their propaganda. Students mobilized to "welcome" them. I was unable to attend, but the below report is self-explanatory: the NATO officers left 45 minutes before their session was scheduled to end! I think the students and community members who attended did well! I have also added another "analysis" of this success. Please feel free to share widely! The two NATO officers decided to leave the meeting some 45 minutes earlier than had been announced, even though there were many more comments that people in the audience wanted to make. Comments that came up pointed out that, though NATO claims to subordinate itself to the international laws and principles enunciated by the United Nations Charter, in fact it violates international law since it regularly interferes in the internal affairs of other nations, such as in the bombing of Yugoslavia. As well, NATO violates the UN definition of allowable national self-defense in its attacks and the attacks of its members on Afghanistan. It was pointed out that NATO has always been expansionist and aggressive since its founding, and today as well, recently reaching out as far away as the Caspian Sea, an area rich with oil. A number of audience members, as the NATO spokesmen unsatisfactorily responded to comments, held up placards which had statements such as "No to the U.S. War," and continued discussion long after the NATO officers had left. N R _______ I hope all of those in attendance at the NATO briefing today realize what we have accomplished. We have done what armies cannot do. We forced NATO to flee like the cowards they are. Congratulations on a job well done everyone, but remember that this is only the beginning.
