Invited there were Pak Su Gil, chairman of the North Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, and other officials concerned. ��� Present there were Arkadi Labrov, consul general of the Russian Federation in Chongjin, and staff members of the consulate general. ��� Speeches were made at the reception. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reunification of Korea supported ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, deputy prime minister and minister of defence of Thailand who is also head of the New Aspiration Party of Thailand, when meeting with DPRK ambassador Jo In Chol to that country on October 9, wished the Korean people great success in their efforts to build a prosperous and powerful nation and achieve peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the reunification of the country. He said that his party sincerely congratulated the Workers' Party of Korea on its shining successes made in the endeavours for the country's prosperity and development and national reunification under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il. ��� Noting that it would contribute to the development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries to boost the relations between the WPK and his party, he said that his party would more closely cooperate with the WPK to this end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Koizumi's projected junket to S. Korea protested ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations in South Korea are protesting Koizumi's projected junket to South Korea, according to Seoul-based Radio No. 1. The association of bereaved families of pacific war victims at a press conference held on Oct. 8 protested his junket and urged the Japanese government to repent of and redress the crimes committed by Japan in the past. ��� Meanwhile, the headquarters of the all-people movement for combating excessive consumption, together with the society of bereaved families of men of merit in the struggle for independence and other organizations, started a 10 million-signature campaign against his junket in Seoul on Oct. 8. ��� The organizations strongly urged the South Korean authorities to cancel at once the plan to receive him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Proposal for founding DFRK favored ��� New Delhi, October 11 (KCNA) -- The Indian newspaper Krishna Ebota on Oct. 4 specially edited leader Kim Jong Il's portrait and articles captioned " Kim Jong Il's pluck" and "Korea will be reunified by federal formula" on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. The paper said that President Kim Il Sung advanced the most reasonable and realistic proposal for founding the DFRK in October 1980 to open a turning phase of national reunification under the grave situation where the moves of the separatists inside and outside Korea to perpetuate the national division got pronounced. ��� It said: ��� All the Koreans in the north and south of Korea and overseas are now determined to bring earlier realization of national reunification under the leadership of Kim Jong Il without fail, remembering the undying feats which Kim Il Sung performed for national reunification. ��� The day when the proposal for founding the DFRK will become a reality is sure to come before long because Kim Jong Il to whom the Korean people look up as the sun of the nation and the lodestar of national reunification set forth a new programme to settle the issue of national reunification and is steering the movement for national reunification in the van. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Glorious history of WPK praised ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- The Russian newspaper Pravda Oct. 9 carried an article titled "main emphasis on people's well-being" under the headline "on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea." The half century-long history of the DPRK is a glorious history of victory achieved under the leadership of the WPK, it said, and continued: ��� The WPK has played a great role in building Korean-style socialism. ��� The state philosophy of the DPRK is the Juche idea known to the world as a philosophy of independence. ��� Guided by this philosophy, the WPK set it as its final goal to fully realize independence of the masses and has consistently defended sovereignty of the country and the nation. ��� Koreans' way of thinking and principle of their activities are clearly represented in the slogan "Let us live our own way" that can be seen everywhere in the DPRK. ��� Self-reliance is a source of their might. ��� Leader Kim Jong Il has followed the policy to increase the economic and national defence potentials of the DPRK and raise its international prestige while leading the party and state. ��� Most of the countries around the world, developing countries in particular, highly praise the achievements made by the DPRK and are proud of having friendly relations with it. ��� The DPRK-Russia relations are making particularly dynamic progress. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Research into acacia intensified ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- An acacia research room has been set up at the institute of forests of economic value of the academy of forestry. Its objective is to conduct scientific researches into raising good species of fast growing acacia of economic value and perfecting methods of their cultivation. ��� Its efforts focus on solving the problem of firewood, feed and furniture material and doing bee-farming in a big way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ New antiseptic for Kimchi produced ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- New antiseptic for Kimchi (pickled vegetable) was produced in the DPRK recently. It is low in production cost and high in its utility value. ��� Its germicidal power is scores of times stronger than the previous one. ��� It is popular for its ingredients good for the people's health and longevity. ��� It is instrumental in preventing Kimchi from becoming sour or getting spoilt. When it is put into pickle soup, it will help slowly raise acidity and control the growth of mucor, saprogenous bacillus of Kimchi, while preserving lactic acid bacilli contained in Kimchi. ��� It is also efficacious for preventing tooth decay, aging and cancer and hardening bone, etc. As it contains some inorganic substance necessary for man. ��� The use of this antiseptic at families would make it possible for them to consume Kimchi till the end of April, while keeping it refreshing and tasty. ��� It is more efficacious when applied to pickled radish. ��� It is very good for Kimchi prepared in spring and summer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Greetings to Spanish King ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- President Kim Yong Nam of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly sent a message of greetings to Spanish King Juan Carlos Borbon on Oct. 12 on the occasion of the National Day of Spain. Extending warm congratulations to the King and people of Spain on its National Day, the message expressed belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would develop in various fields. ��� It wished the King success in his work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gift to leader Kim Jong Il ��� Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il was presented with a gift by secretary general Guy Dupre of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea (CILRECO).
