PRESS RELEASE
CPI Condemns murderous attack on PLO leader Yasser Arafat and
Palestinian People.
The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has issued the
following statement:-
Once again, after previously attacking the Gaza headquarters of Yasser
Arafat, the Israeli authorities have fired missiles on his office in
Ramallah. The Palestinian leader was working in his office. He
miraculously survived both the attacks. The Israeli officials claim
that the attacks were aimed at the structures which belong to Hamas and
Islamic Jehad. But this is a lie since neither group has offices in
Ramallah. The attacks were calculated murderous moves to eliminate the
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and behead the Palestinian people?s
struggle for the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the
capital, as directed by the U.N.
By refusing to withdraw its forces from occupied territories the Israeli
government is not only flouting the UN decisions, but resorting to
state terrorism against the Palestinian people.
It is to be noted that this action has been opposed by Shimon Peres,
Israel?s own foreign minister. However the USA is actively encouraging
and instigating Israel in escalating such acts of state terrorism.
It is unfortunate that the BJP-led government which is claiming to
fight global terrorism has not condemned Israels attack against one of
Indias closest friend and ally Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian
People.
The Communist Party of India strongly condemns these wilfull murderous
attacks, and demands that the attacks must cease and Israel must
implement UN resolutions on the creation of a Palestinian state.
