When the spam first started showing up (within a couple of days after
the change-over), I searched, and found several hits with google. None
were in a gzipped file, but I don't recall if any were from the header
or if all were from the body.

In hindsight, I should have captured the search results. Failure to
do so makes forensics difficult.

One hopes.

And thanks.

It was the timing of the thing that was so annoying.

A whitelist system is looking more and more appealing every day...

You volunteering to be the recpient instead? ;-P

Seriously, any sort of forwarding -- should the frustration level exceed
a significant threshold* -- would first involve an unsubscribe. I only
have a couple of forwards set up (left feedback to the contact addresses
on a web-page, using a unique address, and got spam to that unique one-time
only address, attempts to contact owner of page or domain failed, so, bounce!).
