Sure. But you can't swap the processor or the graphics chip. Thus, you need to upgrade every 3 years (even if you can keep all the external peripherals). Besides, making external hardware peripherals is a *rotten* business, Microsoft doesn't care one iota about that.
In addition, Microsoft gets licensing revenue from every game.
Much better than Windows.
