> Copyright is an artificial institution

Society doesn't see it as artificial. In fact, they have declared it
inalienable. They've declared it to be part of the creative process.
You've got it for as long as you live. The creative process as an
expression of the individual. The two are inextricably linked as one
is to their facial image. The person owns the rights to that image.
It is against the law for Joe to take and sell a recognizable
photograph of someone without their permission.
