LINUX LEVEL 1 TRAINING
Linux Level 1 Training Overview
During Linux Level 1 training module, students participate in lectures
and hands-on training exercises. Students learn Unix/Linux commands
and utilities used for day to day tasks including file manipulation,
program execution and control, and effective use of the shell and X
Windows system. The course presents the concepts necessary to
understand the way UNIX works as well as the system's most commonly
used commands. Data manipulation utilities and shell syntax for
synthesizing command pipelines are emphasized. Bourne and Korn Shell
programming is introduced from a user's perspective, including
configuration of the user's environment, use of the window manager,
and use of several standard X client utility programs such as xterm.
Proficiency in applying new skills is reinforced with extensive hands
on exercises after each module. This course will prepare the student
to pass the LPI-101 exam and have a general understanding of Red Hat
and Suse Linux. Topics covered will include:

* Introduction to shells: sh, csh, and ksh
* Multitasking and Batch Processing
* Text File Manipulation

* RPM- Red Hat Package Manager
Prerequisites
No pre-requisites; however, prior exposure to Linux or Unix is
beneficial.
Certification Preparation
Level 1 certification requires a candidate to pass two exams which
includes exams LPI-101 and LPI-102.
