Personally, my boss is big on video on the net. He wants to be "on this wave" of newness, or at least in his mind. I'm all for it, but it's definitely more involved than most other things on the web.

And as much as I would LOVE to use mpg or something more compatible/non-Microsoft, I'm using WMV. The reason being that as hard as I have tried, I have yet to find anything as simple and compatible as Windows Movie Maker. I can make a movie in a few minutes and have it in a very space-conscious size. If anyone could give me anything that worked near as well and simply as WMM, I would be on it in a second.

It is very odd that *video* is not more widely used like

There is no ubiquitous easy format for video the same way
that text has ASCII/HTML and sound has MP3/Ogg.

(I think Ogg has a video format but it is not widely used IIRC.)

You would think that by 2006 there would be all kinds of cool
open source video apps everyone would be playing with by the millions.

Why hasn't there been a "killer video app" yet and more commercial sites
supporting a sane format that is NOT something lame like
Real Player, QuickTime, Windows Media Player?!? Sheesh!
