Well, that sounds like a nice clean little recipe <grin>. Does it ever
come out the same twice in a row?

Don't know about the quality, but one way is imagemagick's convert tool
(eg, /usr/bin/convert from ImageMagick-6.2.2.0-3.fc4.2)
-- just run
 convert xxx.pdf xxx.jpg
and it seems to work!

Betcha there's still more ways.
