I think a lot of people do it just to get their thoughts down.  And people
do sometimes get useful feedback.

It's not that hard to get readers if you get on one of the aggregators.  I
check in on planetpython.org, planet.lisp.org, and planetnetbeans.org.  I
find useful info on all of them, though the python one has a rather low SNR.
