Thanks all for your suggestions. I have decided to go with the nVidia this time around. With a 30% off coupon I found online, I was able to get the e1505 with nearly all the options I wanted for $1,132.61 shipped. I have been using an iBook with OSX since November. It is okay, but not as revolutionary as the hype machine would have you believe. I am eager to get back into tinkering with Linux on the desktop.

It is strange that Dell now charges a premium for RAM in a 2 DIMM configuration (rather than 1 DIMM). I understand that 2 DIMMs allow the machine to access the memory concurrently, but do the dual DIMMs work differently from the single DIMM variant? Will I run into problems if I purchase an additional 512MB DIMM?
