Exactly, and after a certain point, it in fact starts to sound like shit
and nothing can be done to remedy (other than turn it back down). There
is definitely a thing called too loud and I think it's when one's ears
themselves start distorting. I used to play in a bar band and I was the
lone, and ignored, voice to turn it &^$% down. Everyone cranked it so
high, I had to be in the ball park to match. I remember one night my
guitar was so loud I couldn't tell the tones well enough to tune the
thing. That's when I realized I should quit.
