history think that authors' copyrights were inevitable/natural and would have
appeared in any sane culture.  I wonder if when they find out this history it

today.  That perhaps authors' copyrights aren't so natural/inevitable after
all.

If mass duplication of words and images is not technically possible,
and there is no market economy, then there is very little reason for
the question of copyright to arise. Unlimited free sharing of ideas is
great--if you're talking about a new technique of starting fire by
striking a flint rock instead of twirling a stick.
