Offline vs. online. Lack of replay attacks (must have card and generate
new transaction token). No chargebacks (good for vendor). Extra
indirection between criminals your accounts. Anonymity. Bunching of
microtransactions. Lack of fees.
They are not universally better than credit cards. They have different
strengths and weaknesses.
