A point to make here is that the unemployment numbers are irrelevant. Those
are for the economy as a whole. We're talking about a specific field, which
may trail behind, or be ahead of, employment trends (or be completely
divorced from the trends, for that matter). I can't speak for the economy
as a whole, but programming isn't doing to bad right now.
