The AMD 64 X2 is definitely a better processor. The AMD is a true 64 bit chip. The Intel chips use a 32 bit core with 64 bit extensions. Intel is coming out with a new quad core chip, but I am not sure how it compares, since it is not available I believe. AMD is coming out with their own quad core as well.
