The AMD 64 X2 is definitely a better processor. The AMD is a true 64 bit chip. 
The Intel chips use a 32 bit core with 64 bit extensions. Intel is coming out 
with a new quad core chip, but I am not sure how it compares, since it is not 
available I believe. AMD is coming out with their own quad core as well.

I'm not up to speed on the latest processors. My company recently
purchased a new desktop for me. It's an AMD X2 64-bit, 4200+ system upon
which I run Linux. My company now wants to buy new Windows computers
from Dell (some kind of sale or something). So, I want to compare the
price between a Dell with close to the same Intel processing power as
