Intel "Core 2 Duo" is 64bit, is it not? .. but not the Intel "Core Duo", as I understand it. That little '2' in the name seems to be crucial! Somebody please correct me if I have it wrong, but kernels compiled for X86_64 runs on the Core 2 Duo. There is perhaps some dispute, but the benchmarks I have seen show that the Core2Duo has pushed the AMD 64 off the mountain top (for the present, I suppose) Anyone willing to speculate on whether AMD is likely to climb back, and if so when?
