What do y'all do to keep computer cables organized?
There are several solutions depending on your pocketbook and desire to
gain control over the mess.
Here is a Step-by-Step Guide to Cable Taming found at:
http://cableorganizer.com/articles/cable-taming-with-wire-loom.htm
And, a rather more extensive tutorial/demonstration (12 step program)
for Home Office and Office Desk Organization at:
http://cableorganizer.com/office/
Of course you can take the DIY approach
1) You can always use tie wraps like the ones at:
http://www.buycableties.com/
2) Or, if you prefer reusable wraps, you might consider Velcro wraps
like the ones found at:
http://cableorganizer.com/wire-wrap/
3) If you have bundles of cords you want to group together and you don't
mind making one large cable out of them you could use a wire loom such
as you would find here:
http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/
4) Of course one of the most frustrating things about power cords is
that they are so easy to trip over so you might consider using a Floor
Cord Cover for Home and Office found at:
http://cableorganizer.com/floor-cord-cover/
5) Depending on how much you are trying to tame you might cross over to
the dark side and incorporate a little more 'industrial' solution such
as raceways like the ones at:
http://fastcomputerparts.com/index.html?lang=en-us&target=d77.html
6) If you have plenty of money and don't mind spending it on a
'professional' solution. The Complete CABLE MANAGER^TM is a unique
desktop cable organization system that provides everything you need
<http://www.cable-safe.com/products/cs-pcm.htm> to lift wires, power
adapters, power strips, hubs, modems and other small devices off the
floor and safely out of harm's way. Check it out at:
http://www.cable-safe.com/index.htm
Keep in mind that the URL's I posted are for information purposes only.
I am not necessarily recommending that particular company, or product.
Home Depot and Lowe's have electrical departments where you can purchase
Wiremold raceways and related solutions. The Container Store and CompUSA
carry Velcro straps. Marshall's Hardware at 8423 Production Ave. in the
Miramar area (San Diego, CA 92121-2022) is a great place to buy quality
hardware including tie wraps and related items. Their telephone number
is (858) 271-5555 and you can check out their web site at:
http://www.marshallshardware.com/index.html
This is a home situation with 8 or so computers and related stuff
around and under a desk.
Any good solutions out there? Hardware? Ideas?
Hope this gives you some ideas and points you in some useful directions.
