Status report: During the football, I had foobared the wireless on my
laptop. In all honesty, it had always been a kludge. Now it was a broken
kludge.

Using your excellent guide (and lots of script reading), I had glimmerings
of understanding, and got the laptop back. It's still a hack, in that I
turned ONBOOT off and added ifup to rc.local _after_ my script that makes
the wireless device. But the chain of calls is much closer to rational and
doesn't depend on anywhere as much luck. I just need to generalize it
later.

Now to the Myth box!
