Whether one agrees or not, Cringley is pushing a pretty radical lineof techno-business speculaiton. In this blog he suggests that P2P will be the ultimate Google killer (after Google owns the conventional central server Internet, last weeks topic). See
Oh Brother Where Art Thou?: The only way left to compete with Google is P2P with a twist. http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/2007/pulpit_20070126_001539.html

The GooglePeeps are aware (ok, I'm aware of it, they HAVE to be aware of it) that though they're creating new technologies and tools and infrastructures, they have to be very careful about what they end up creating - because they can spend their lives creating something that they intend to use to make the world a better place (and a cubic ton of money at the same time), and then PWG's can step in and not only take away their real control, but use the fruits of their labor for goals they greatly do not want - much more effective tools for social surveillance and control, appropriations of their technology for weapons research and development, faster and sneakier ways of ruining or killing opposition individuals or groups, etc. -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
