I have mixed feelings about the credit bureaus. It seems the people who
are most against them are the people with bad credit. I hate the idea of
them snooping on my life and informing peoples decisions about whether
or not I can buy a house, a car, or even get a cell phone. However, our
credit bureau system is a reputation system. I have done plenty of
business in places without such a reputation system and I can tell you
it is very inconvenient. I like not having to always prepay my cell
phone, getting a cheap phone on a commitment, not having to pay cash up
front for everything such as car and house, and being able to have a
credit card (instant loan) for emergency situations, etc.
