Indeed this may be true. However, they do stuff that I
*won't* do myself... and they might *know* a trick or two that I do
not. As it would happen that through many years of paying my bills on
time, thanks to automatic bill payments, I have no need to repair my
credit. However, if I did, I'd be inclined to hire someone who knew
what they are doing or had done it before. The reason is the same as
why I hire a gardener.... it might be something I *can* do myself,
but I don't *want* to do it myself. The "professional" will do it
faster, better (hopefully), and I can concentrate on things that I
want to focus on.... or on things that make me the money to pay their bill...
It is after all, the age of specialization.

There is nothing they can do that you cannot do yourself. All they can
do is challenge every negative item, with the hope that the party that
provided the information doesn't respond to the challenge.
