I find it amusing that some believe that Catholics are not Christians - since they were the ONLY Christians from the early 300's until the 1500's that means that what they are calling Christianity is only a mere 500 years old.

Correction, they were the only organization calling itself Christian during that time. The fact that people somehow managed to become Chritians (despite being kept from the scriptures and being told that salvation is earned by good deeds, if you're lucky) under Catholocism is an amazing feat attainable only by the miraculous intervention of the Holy Spirit. Be amused by this all you want. I'm amazed.

Correction again, what we are calling Christianity is what is described in the bulk of the New Testament, not the bastardization of it that came along. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that the slaughter of Christians finally stopped. And I'm happy that the Catholic Church did not completely suppress the Scriptures. But to access them, you had to either be able to read and understand Latin, or have access to someone who could and further would be willing to translate for you. I know that God had a plan for Christianity to be swallowed whole by the Catholic Church (like Jonah was swallowed whole) and then later spit back out.

Actually, I find this quite often. As I said in my first post - I was born into this type of life, but fortunately I outgrew it. 60+ years of intense study in ALL areas of History and Comparative Religions will do that to you - but you MUST study ALL sides of the issue, not take someones word for what to believe.

Good for you. Even if God Himself gives you that word, don't you dare take even His word for it. Even then you must carefully study "ALL areas of History and Comparative Religions".

I think that the main reason that so many people are Christians is that they are afraid of death, some with good reason considering their lives, and this idea of instant redemption gives them hope of escaping punishment for their transgressions. The idea of living in paradise is attractive to some - it would bore the Hell out of me.

No it won't. You won't escape Hell that easily.

This also is not taught by Christianity.

Do not speak of what you do not know.

Regarding "Stone fags.", Todd is confusing Christian teachings with laws given (in the Bible) by God to the Jewish nation.

Regarding "Spear Muslims.", I think Todd is confusing Christianity with Catholicism. The Crusades were not Christian. They were Catholic (even though the Catholics claim to be Christian, and indeed some of them are).

So, in summary, Todd /thinks/ he knows what Christian teachings are, but clearly does not.
