I'm trying to use the Live Classroom feature in WebCT. It requires a QuickTime
plugin for Firefox. It looks like there is no such thing in Linux. So, I'm
forced to use Windows. You've ruined my day.
While I would like to see Apple support Linux, you are yelling at the
wrong folks.
Yell at the WebCT folks for using a proprietary format. Standard H.264
video works fine on Linux with several open-source plugins. While not a
suggestion I would use, Flash also has a video codec that works. See:
Google Video. If enough people quit using Quicktime because it doesn't
support Linux, Apple will bend. This is the proper way to apply pressure.
Second, don't support WebCT, period. WebCT is now part of Blackboard
who is trying to lay claim to a broad patent over all online learning.
