My comment about blocking Wikipedia is not due to quality but rather
teachers simply don't want to students using it for whatever reason, whether
justifiable or not. I believe that is why it is banned.

But what baffles me is that the open source text book site is blocked even
though California has invested $30 million into development of open source
curriculum/text books in the hopes to reduce the $40 million price tag they
spend a year on text books just for k-8 grades. I found there filtering
policy here: http://www.sdcoe.net/hrt2/css/?loc=filter <-- i think thats it
anyways, and i don't see it falling into any of there categories. o and the
email is: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

On a side note, the reason why I went searching for open source
books/curriculum was in the hope to convince educators and administrators to
allow the use of open office in place of microsoft office for certain
classes (Business and Computers Applications in specific). That alone could
save some big bucks especially if back with ready made & self improving
educational tools.
