Yes. Exposure to poor grammar degrades my grammar, and that annoys me.
"You understand what I meant, so where's the harm?" has an appropriate
response: "It diminishes *my* abilities, and makes *me* look like an
idiot, so it harms ME."

I've noticed that I too am a victim of 'assimilating' everyone else's
bad grammar.  It usually only comes out when I speak, but I am doing
what I can to catch myself when I do it.  Notice the
not-entirely-correct usage of 'it' twice in the same sentence.

Watching "Idiocracy" last night for the first time was a bit of a
wake-up call as well.  Reminds me of high school world history class
and the Fall of the Roman Empire, when all the Romans cared about were
events in the Colosseum and Circus Maximus.
