Yes. Exposure to poor grammar degrades my grammar, and that annoys me.
"You understand what I meant, so where's the harm?" has an appropriate
response: "It diminishes *my* abilities, and makes *me* look like an
idiot, so it harms ME."

I've noticed that I too am a victim of 'assimilating' everyone else's
bad grammar.  It usually only comes out when I speak, but I am doing
what I can to catch myself when I do it.  Notice the
not-entirely-correct usage of 'it' twice in the same sentence.

What's not correct?  Do not both refer to the same thing?
