Now I think it is a Windows problem (or hardware) because my Ubuntu Thinkpad works fine 3 feet from AP whereas wife's Win2K Thinkpad does NOT. I'm thinking of putting Ubuntu on her's and see if that makes a difference. That would be surprising if the fault was W2k.
