When most people say online banking in terms of accounting systems they usually mean downloading the list of transactions, checks cleared, etc. and reconciling that with their accounting system automatically. It usually does not involve the ability to authorize transactions on the account. At least that has been my experience working with payroll systems and other accounting systems. It is much faster and more accurate to do those things online than to have a person manually enter check cleared data or verify transactions against the accounting system.
