So, how much extra variance do you get with Medeco locks?
Dave
Medeco is not a widely used brand. It is more expensive than most
people want to pay. There are safeguards to protect against looking at
them and copying them. The main safeguard being that the key blanks
themselves are restricted (except in New York). I can purchase my own
keyway from Medeco and no other locksmith or anyone can even get the key
blanks. There are some standard Medeco keys, but even those require
more than a cursory glance. Each tumbler, in addition to the 10
possible depths it can have, can also have three different angles. With
practice, I could get good at glancing and remembering, but now we're
getting into the realm of is-it-really-worth-the-trouble.
