For what it's worth, Cox's "digital phone service" is, effectively, POTS. The only "digital" part about it is the little tiny box they put on the side of your house that has coax going to the cable company and RJ-11 going in to your house.

Basically, companies like Cox have moved the digital portion of the telephone network from the CO up to your dmark point.
