Songbird is the best. It's still in alpha/beta phase but it looks and
works pretty damned good, if you ask me. There's a plugin to support
the iTunesDB format and all that crap....I personally put rockbox on
my ipod (opensource/free firmware), so I can just use my iPod as a
USB-disk device, and throw music at it. It doesn't really matter where
I throw the music, or what format the music's in....rockbox handles
all. Of course, you could also use the iTunesDB and rockbox together
(rockbox can read iTunesDB, as well as flat-file music), and when you
install rockbox on your iPod, you can dual boot into Apple's firmware.
 (Note: I don't use the iTunesDB, it's too evil.)
