That's pretty much indentical to my list of reasons for using a Mac on
the desktop at home... especially #2. I can't do #3 easily, but #5
(with VMware) more than makes up for it. Also, in #4 substitute
"VersionTracker and MacUpdate" for "EPEL and rpmforge."

In any case, all the Linux workstations in my lab at work run CentOS
on the desktop. Granted, there's very little "playing around" going on
(except for my box, of course), but Cent is great and rock-solid for
desktop use.
