It may be true that it is the openness/integrity/honesty that has gotten F/OSS
this far.  I *hope* that honesty is the best policy.

do the big boys in Microsoft's and Sun's marketing departments say one should
do?


They say hide it and never admit anything. Just like in every company I've worked for that had any known problem with any product. Eventually, in every case, it comes to bite them square in the ass.

Better to be honest about it, fix it ASAP, and forgo the ass biting.
