Good catch on the power plug, I didn't see it either but they could be running it on batteries just so he is not worrying about cables as he moves it around for the video. That base caught my eye too but just figured it was a way to visually locate the product like matting in a picture frame. It's more visually appealing this way instead of it being presented against the backdrop of a large desk.
