Chris, you don't sound like you've had much experience with Linux so you should be doing this for yourself before putting and unknown you installed in front of your family. You are only asking for trouble since you're inexperienced with it to begin with. Dual boot and Wubi still let the computer boot to the old OS so it's there for them when you are ready.
