The drive is not slow. When you look at data transfer rates, seek times and latency there is no practical difference between SATA and parallel ATA. The only real differences you will see will be between things like 10,000RPM drives (SATA like Western Digital Raptor), SCSI) or 15,000 RPM drives (SCSI) and the older 7200 RPM drives. Don't be confused by interface speed which is much higher than the actual drive speed.
