Motherbaords for dual socket is going to be much more $ than a single
socket board that supportsd quad core.

Often, all that I know of in the Intel line, motherboards that are dual
socket are going to use "server" RAM (FBDIMMs). This is much more $ and
*slower* than the non-buffered regular DDR you can use for a single quad
core system.

For several months you were able to get dual cores with 1333MHz FSB, but
quad cores were 1066MHz FSB. You can now get quad cores with 1333MHz FSB
that do not use the server RAM. There are also some with TWELVE megs of
cache that are starting to get out of the stratosphere (see: Q9450)
