I guess is so insignifcant to me that I never even noticed. Opera's
default is like the second picture, but I have both my tabs and URL
window/prompt thingy on the bottom. Once they're there then there is no
way to re-order them. I hope Google has applied for a patent.

I do both.

I more often close the wrong tabs, but I do it on all browsers I use.
Mostly an absent-minded thing. The thing I do most often is I want to
close a couple tabs off to the left side, and the X button is always in
the same spot, so I'll quickly click on the same real estate a few times,
and sometimes a few times too many.

The little checkbox in Firefox (or Opera) doesn't do that? Does Safari
have a checkbox? <sarcasm>I can't imagine any browser having a checkbox
that does nothing!</sarcasm>  I think the one in Opera does nothing. :)
