I'm not sure what you mean by a database language. Almost all languages
available on Linux have the ability to connect to a database. I'm currently
using Java and Kylix (Borland Delphi port to Linux) connecting to a
Firebird database.

You could choose OpenOffice.org and the new database module to write
applications similar to MS Access. If you do something like that you should
give a presentation to KPLUG, assuming you're in the San Deigo area.
