Maybe there's a business opportunity here?

Add some kind of structured tags
  <post-address>
  <post-content>
  <post-sig>
  <post-retaddr>
maybe.

Then Google could just extract the gmail within those tags, send that
content to a post-injection station somewhere near the recipient
specified in post-address, the injection station could print the content
and an envelope, and deposit it into the USPS system for delivery.
