mkisofs seems perfectly happy to make an Joliet/Rock Ridge/HFS hybrid CD that retains all of the attributes possible in each version. You need Rock Ridge if you want to store any unix attributes. mkisofs recommends using both Joliet and Rock Ridge for greater portability. Not everything can read Joliet.
