I don't know the answer. I have never used ieee1394 and only used
usb2.0 once, as I recall. It looks to me like the errors are coming
from the ieee1394 port device not the drive. Who makes the ieee1394
card you are using? I suspect it is not recognized properly by the
kernel module, or the module instructions to the port aren't being
recognized by the device.
